We are grateful for your support during the appeal, but understand you may have questions about what is involved. Below we have answered some of the most frequently asked questions, but if there’s anything else you would like to ask, please email suzanne@futuredreams.org.uk
We are looking for people to volunteer to be ‘Breast Friends,’ or fundraising champions, who will promote the charity amongst friends, family and colleagues, and mobilise them to raise much-needed funds so that Future Dreams can continue to be able to offer critical support services to all those touched by breast cancer.
We would like you to act as a fundraising champion on behalf of Future Dreams, raising any amount of money, large or small, to support the work we do ensuring nobody goes through breast cancer alone. As part of the appeal, we are building a network of Breast Friends who can support each other during the appeal and beyond.
Future Dreams House is based in Kings Cross, London and people travel from all over the UK to use its services, but we appreciate that isn’t a possibility for all. We already offer book clubs, life coaching, coffee mornings and yoga online so they are accessible across the UK. We now want to expand our virtual offering to make the house even more accessible to users near and far, and allow those touched by breast cancer to build their support network.
We understand people have busy lives so supporting the appeal won’t take too much time and you can do as much or as little as you wish. Once you are registered we will provide you with all the tools you need to contact your friends and family, and they will be able to make donations through our online fundraising platform – so it’s easy to do and takes no time at all!
It would be great if you also feel able to share that you have become a Breast Friend on your social media accounts so that we can also find more Breast Friends.
We will provide you with all the guidance and tools to help with your fundraising. We will also provide a number of photos for you to use on your social media accounts to announce that you will be taking part in the campaign. In August and September, we will be holding some get togethers, both virtually and in person, to meet other fundraisers, and share experiences. Also in September, you will also be invited to join the broadcast Whatsapp group to keep you up to date ahead of the appeal itself.
We have a number of generous donors who have agreed to match any funds raised by our Breast Friends. This means that anything you raise will be doubled, at no extra cost to the donor.
Any amount is welcome! There is no pressure to reach a particular target and we are grateful for all our donors’ participation.
On the Breast Friends Weekender, 2nd & 3rd October, there will be lots happening at Future Dreams House, both virtually and in person: For those that can pop in, a cuppa will be waiting!
We will also be helping promote the appeal in the media, as well as supporting our Breast Friends in their fundraising efforts.
No problem at all! We know people’s circumstances change and there is no pressure at all to participate during the weekend, even if you have been involved in the run up to the event. If you don’t feel able to participate and you’re able to let us know we won’t send you anything further relating to the appeal, but if you’d still like to receive the communications and feel involved, even if you can’t fundraise, that’s just fine too.
If you use social media, we will send you some images for you to post on your accounts, and will provide information for you to share on Whatsapp in particular to tell anyone you want to tell that you are involved in the appeal. We will provide guidance and support every step of the way.
As outlined above, we use Whatsapp as our main channel of communication and will set up a group on the app, but you’re more than welcome to call or email as we will have a team manning the desks for the duration of the appeal.
Afterwards, we will provide you with an update on our fundraising total, we would also love to invite you in to Future Dreams house to meet other fundraisers and find out what we are planning to do with the money raised.
