“Everything was explained so clearly. We had some really important discussions about making positive choices for happiness and what these could be. I feel inspired, optimistic and calm.”
Kate sent this message after attending Eve Warren’s Living Well and Moving On Workshop last month. She is one of many visitors to Future Dreams House who has found new confidence and self esteem from participating in a workshop, class or event. To date we have welcomed more than 1,000 members of the breast cancer community to Future Dreams House and numbers continue to rise month on month. In July we ran 45 in-person and virtual workshops, exercise classes and retreats. Special activities included:
- Light up your day with Fireflies Ballet. Research evidences regular exercise can greatly improve physical and mental health during every phase of treatment. Our new ballet classes offer a gentle mix of ballet, relaxation and music.
- Two workshops on eating well through treatment from food columnist, chef and author, Melissa Hemsley (pictured) and The Urban Kitchen. Eating well can help you cope with your cancer treatments better and recover faster.
- Sound Bath Workshop which uses the therapeutic application of sound frequencies to guide meditation and relax the mind and body
- Lymph Flow & Restore. Lymphedema can commonly occur after surgery (particularly if lymph nodes have been removed), or after radiation treatment. Stimulating the lymphatic system through movement can provide reduce the swelling caused by a build up of lymph fluid.
- EFT tapping for stress relief and wellbeing. Emotional freedom technique (EFT) is an alternative treatment for physical pain and emotional distress. It’s also referred to as tapping or psychological acupressure. People who use this technique believe tapping the body can create a balance in your energy system and treat pain.
In addition, we had all of our usual workshops running, that specialise in supporting both the physical and mental health of those on their Breast Cancer journey.
