Cathryn is a bodywork therapist that has been in practice for over 20 years, specialising in Scar Therapy and Oncology Massage. She has had her own experience of cancer and has worked with breast cancer patients for many years. Scar Therapy is a gentle manual therapy that can be used to treat any fibrosis / thickening of tissue after surgery, and will address cording. Problematic scars can feel thick, hard, sensitive, numb or itchy and can create a pulling sensation on movement. Using the Restore method of scar therapy and other massage techniques we can address all of these concerns, either after lumpectomy, mastectomy and reconstruction. Oncology massage is a specialised form of patient-centred therapeutic touch tailored for the individual at any stage of their cancer treatment. It is safe to have massage during cancer treatment as long as the body’s vulnerabilities are respected. Massage is so important during cancer treatment as it helps the body restore, relax, aids emotional wellbeing and helps support the immune system. Cathryn is offering 45 minute treatment sessions at Future Dreams House on Tuesdays.
