As a counsellor, working in-house at Future Dreams House and online, I have gained the unique experience of supporting both those with a breast cancer diagnosis and their supporters and family. This followed the experience of being a counsellor at a wonderful charity that supports whole families affected by cancer.
I joined Future Dreams two years ago as I wanted to use this experience to help individuals navigate the wide range of feelings and experiences that arise following such a life altering journey. I am aware of how a cancer diagnosis has an impact on you – emotionally, physically and spiritually. It can feel like grief, with all the accompanying anger, anxiety, sadness and fear. You worry that your old-self has gone. I like to feel that I am on a journey with my clients in a totally confidential space for as long as is needed. I welcome both those who have had a cancer diagnosis and their supporters.
I am a member (MBACP) of the principal counselling governing body, the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy.
