Our Story

How it all began

Future Dreams was founded in 2008 by mother and daughter, Sylvie Henry and Danielle Leslie.

They had both been diagnosed with breast cancer, with Danielle aged just 35 and a mother of three young children. Their direct experience of breast cancer gave them first hand experience on the impact it has on individuals and their families. Their vision was that no one should ever have to face breast cancer alone, or without hope.

They created Future Dreams to fund vital research into secondary breast cancer and raise breast health awareness in younger generations.

The name Future Dreams was inspired by an Eleanor Roosevelt’ quote, “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams”. Sylvie chose the the name to reflect the vision she shared with Danielle.

Tragically both women lost their lives to secondary breast cancer within a year of each other in 2009. 

In 2021, Future Dreams House opened its doors to deliver practical, physical and psychological support for those diagnosed with breast cancer, building on Sylvie and Danielle’s mission and legacy.

Since then, we have supported thousands of individuals at every stage of their diagnosis, offering essential emotional and practical care to those who need it most.

As Danielle’s daughter Amy so beautifully said, “if they could see what Future Dreams has become today they would be speechless.” We carry those words with pride as we continue to grow and reach even more people in need.

We remain committed to honouring their legacy through every person we support, every life we touch, and every step we take towards a future where no one faces breast cancer alone.
