Gift ideas for someone going through breast cancer

Posted by Future Dreams Team on 13 August 2021

Someone you love has been diagnosed with breast cancer. It might be your mum, your partner, your friend, someone who lives a few doors down from you or even your brother (men get breast cancer too!), and you want to give them a special gift but you don’t know what to give. It can be hard to know what to buy someone going through breast cancer. That’s why we’ve compiled this gift guide featuring products from some of our fantastic brand partners – so you’ll be supporting Future Dreams with your gift too!

Gift ideas for someone with breast cancer

Everyone loves a pair of festive pyjamas or loungewear for staying cosy in winter. These gorgeous hoodies and joggers not only combine NFD’s iconic prints with superb comfort, they also have concealed zips on arms and chest for easy access for IVs and ports for chemotherapy or other medical treatment. £5 of every pair sold is donated to Future Dreams to help us continue to support those impacted by breast cancer.

Nicky Newman was a secondary breast cancer campaigner, co-founder of Secondary Sisters and an inspiration to many. During a lockdown virtual painting class with artist and internet personality Sophie Tea, Nicky created a wonderful portrait which was named Aurora by her Instagramily. Her legacy lives on through her husband who now runs her Instagram page and her catchphrase “Go Grab Life”. This portrait captures her joyful, positive spirit and makes the perfect gift for anyone needing a little hope this time of year. All proceeds will go to Future Dreams.

For anyone struggling with hair loss as a result of treatment, these self-adhesive reusable brow stencils take the hassle out of drawing symmetrical, balanced brows. 50% from every pack of Eyebrow Stencils sold will be donated to Future Dreams.

In a special collaboration to raise breast cancer awareness, Marti Pellow joined forces with ITV Lorraine’s Change+Check Choir for a new version of ‘Love Is All Around’. As Wet Wet Wet’s ‘Love Is All Around’ turns 30, it’s a perfect opportunity to bring the song back for a special cause. Following the digital single’s number 1 chart success we are now releasing an exclusive CD version of the single just in time for Christmas! Profits will go to breast cancer charity Future Dreams.

Annie Haak’s bracelet and necklace collection makes the perfect gift for any jewellery lover. Handmade & Thoughtful Gifts

You know that old saying “it’s the thought that counts”…it really is true! It’s not always about buying the best expensive gift, there are so many ways to show you care without breaking the bank. Sometimes it’s these gifts that mean the most.

  • Joyful Jar – Fill an old jar with handwritten notes filled with uplifting quotes, affirmations or anything that will make them smile. Use colourful paper and fold them all up so they can take one out on a bad day or whenever they need a little lift.
  • Personalised Treat Vouchers – Gift someone a book of personalised vouchers they can “cash” in with you at any time. These could include things to give them a helping hand like ‘a home-cooked meal delivered to your door’ or ‘a lift to chemo’ or activities like ‘a cinema trip – your movie pick!’ or ‘going for a walk together’.
  • Pamper Care Package – A box of all their favourite things they can reach for during treatment. This could include their favourite book, fluffy socks, a scented candle or their favourite sweet treat. Or, you could include more practical items such as tissues, hand cream, lip balm and a nice anti-bacterial handwash.
  • Gift of Time – Many breast cancer patients can feel isolated and lonely, particularly around the festive season. Sometimes the best thing you can offer is your time. It doesn’t have to be anything particularly special, but simply spending time with your loved one when they’re going through the most difficult time in their lives is all they might really need. If you’re far away, even a text to check-in can go a long way (perhaps accompanied by a funny GIF to make them smile).
  • Future Dreams – Let them know about Future Dreams, our services and our support. Being able to access support and connect with those going through the same thing might be just what they need during this time. We have lots of online resources whilst the House is closed and our services will resume from 6th Jan.

Donate to those touched by BREAST cancer

Sylvie and Danielle began Future Dreams with just £100 in 2008. They believed nobody should face breast cancer alone.  Their legacy lives on in Future Dreams House.  We couldn’t continue to fund support services for those touched by breast cancer, raise awareness of breast cancer and promote early diagnosis and advance research into secondary breast cancer without your help. Please consider partnering with us or making a donation.
