Our lovely Future Dreams Film Club have put together their favourite festive films in time for the Christmas holidays “in no particular order”.

If you need some help or advice scrolling through TV film channels or feel lost in the choice on Netflix, our friendly Film Club have you covered with 10 top picks to get you through between Christmas and New Year.

Top Picks

The Muppets Christmas Carol

Brian Henson’s spin on the Dickens classic, a fan favourite no matter the age. What’s not to love; puppets, muppets and Michael Caine in a magical mix.

It’s a Wonderful Life

Despite being unsuccessful at the box office when it opened in 1946 this film is now considered one of the finest films ever made. James Stewart and Lionel Barrymore play their roles with such conviction you forget you’re watching a film.

White Christmas

Old school charm with the best classic Christmas song. Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye are on top form as a successful song and dance act trying to save their former commanding general’s holiday inn in Vermont.

Klaus

Highly acclaimed animation, nominated for an Academy Award and rightfully so. It will pull your heartstrings and make you belly laugh, a wonderful Santa Claus origin story.

The Holiday

This feel good Christmas rom-com featuring Kate Winslet, Cameron Diaz, Jude Law and Jack Black might be rather predictable but it’s cheese on toast of the best kind.

Trading Places

80’s comedy smash hit, scheming shenanigans in this rags to riches switcheroo film. Dan Aykroyd and Eddie Murphy perform to perfection.

Die Hard

The votes are in and decided, this is a Christmas movie! Action packed and fast paced, Bruce Wilis single handedly saves the day several times/films over.

The Holdovers

Quiet Christmas dramedy with plenty of heart and hygge to see you through the holidays. An instant classic.

Home Alone

Created by the king of coming of age movies John Hughes and directed by Chris Columbus this caper has lots of fun and sweetness. Eight-year-old Kevin is left home alone by accident and it doesn’t unfold quietly. Keviiiinnnnnn!

Donate to those touched by BREAST cancer

Sylvie and Danielle began Future Dreams with just £100 in 2008. They believed nobody should face breast cancer alone.  Their legacy lives on in Future Dreams House.  We couldn’t continue to fund support services for those touched by breast cancer, raise awareness of breast cancer and promote early diagnosis and advance research into secondary breast cancer without your help.
