Nicky Newman was a secondary breast cancer campaigner, co-founder of Secondary Sisters and an inspiration to many through her popular social media. During a lockdown virtual painting class with artist and internet personality Sophie Tea, Nicky created a wonderful portrait which was named Aurora by her Instagramily. Each print was signed by Nicky and numbered out of 33, which is a number special to herself and her husband Alex. There were also three artist’s proofs. All of the prints have now sold out, ten of which were won in a raffle.

Future Dreams is delighted to also be receiving nominations for the inaugural Lightning Bolt Award in honour of Nicky Newman.
The Lightning Bolt Award is dedicated to an individual who embodies Nicky’s positive spirit and ‘Go Grab Life’ philosophy.
This September, the award will honour someone who, despite a breast cancer diagnosis, has lived life to the fullest. Whether they have a primary or secondary diagnosis, their joyful and dynamic approach to life has inspired others.
Future Dreams and Alex Newman, Nicky’s husband, are calling for nominations from all over the UK, regardless of age. The deadline for nominations is Sunday, 21 July 2024.
A shortlist will be revealed in early August. All shortlisted nominees will be invited to meet the judging panel and receive a congratulatory gift. The winner, along with a guest, will be invited to the Future Dreams Lunch at The Savoy in London, sponsored by Estée Lauder Companies, on Thursday, 26 September 2024. The award will be presented by Alex, Nicky’s mother Glenda, and Alex’s mother Jane.
