Support awareness research

What we do

Future Dreams provides practical and emotional support for those diagnosed with breast cancer, promotes health awareness and funds vital secondary breast cancer research. In October 2021 the charity opened Future Dreams House, the only dedicated breast cancer support centre in the UK.

SUPPORT

Whether you were diagnosed today or ten years ago we can support you, and those you love.

Our support services aim to assist patients in managing the key issues and pain points when faced with a breast cancer diagnosis, through treatment and beyond including:

  • Side effects of chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgery
  • Psychological impact eg stress, anxiety, depression and body image
  • Menopausal symptoms
  • Infertility
  • Lymphoedema and mobility
  • Fatigue and insomnia
  • Immediate and longterm implications of living with breast cancer

We do this through a diverse range of workshops, classes, professional breast care services, one-to-one therapies and services, a support hub and partnering with support groups that offer valuable peer support. In addition, we produce the annual Future Dreams Magazine and the award-winning podcast hosted by Victoria Derbyshire, And Then Came Breast Cancer.

Awareness

Future Dreams creates and supports breast health awareness programmes to encourage everyone to know their normal, check out changes and ultimately save lives.

One in seven women will experience breast cancer in their lifetime. Future Dreams wants all women, and men, to be taught from an early age to know their normal and look out for any changes.

Our awareness initatives

research

We fund vital research into secondary breast cancer, also known as metastatic, advanced or stage IV breast cancer. Secondary breast cancer is when the disease has spread beyond the breast to other parts of the body. It is uncurable. Around 25% of people diagnosed with secondaries survive for at least 5 years.  Recent data estimates 31 people loose their lives to secondary breast cancer every day.

Information for medical professionals

Our relationship with medical professionals is super important in not only spreading the message of what we do here at Future Dreams, but also in giving us information on how to provide services that cater to the demand and needs of those touched by breast cancer. Sign up to join our Medical Professional Community and receive leaflets and magazines, our Medical Professional comms and other relevant updates.

Future Dreams has created a breast cancer support centre, based in central London called Future Dreams House

Visitors will be able to access practical support including image workshops, life coaching, financial and nutritional advice on exercise and healthy eating from this central London location, perhaps the most vital function of the new centre is to provide a non-medical environment in which people can form friendships and networks that will help them to take on this disease from a place of solidarity and empowerment.

Donate to those touched by BREAST cancer

Sylvie and Danielle began Future Dreams with just £100 in 2008. They believed nobody should face breast cancer alone.  Their legacy lives on in Future Dreams House.  We couldn’t continue to fund support services for those touched by breast cancer, raise awareness of breast cancer and promote early diagnosis and advance research into secondary breast cancer without your help. Please consider partnering with us or making a donation.
