Black Women Rising Day

Posted by Suzanne Brennan on 07 November 2022

On Thursday 20th October 2022 at Future Dreams House, Black Women Rising launched their very first Black Women Rising Day which is now a fixture in the calendar!

They were joined by their members and a few allies; it was a beautiful day of eating, sharing laughter, making new connections and seeing familiar faces.

The day was packed full of fun with Leanne Pero, Founder of Black Women Rising, who gave a talk about the work the charity does, sharing some special announcements and exciting upcoming events. Leanne was joined by some of the members of Black Women Rising who shared and spoke candidly about their personal experiences.

There was a Palmer’s Instagram take over which was live-streamed. This was hosted by Charlotte Crowl who was joined by three of the Black Women Rising members.  There was also a Palmer’s giveaway featuring some of Leanne’s favourite products for a couple of lucky winners.

A new and powerful campaign was launched called ‘Time for Change’. The campaign’s objective is to amplify voices and spread the message about inequalities still faced by women of colour who experience a cancer diagnosis. The message is about standing together to create change and change lives.

If that wasn’t enough the front covers of the new Black Women Rising magazine were revealed. There are TWO covers – one with MP Dawn Butler alone, and the other with MP Dawn Butler and some of the Black Women Rising’s members.

The day was really enjoyed by all who attended and the Future Dreams Team loved being apart of Black Women Rising Day 2022.

Donate to those touched by BREAST cancer

Sylvie and Danielle began Future Dreams with just £100 in 2008. They believed nobody should face breast cancer alone.  Their legacy lives on in Future Dreams House.  We couldn’t continue to fund support services for those touched by breast cancer, raise awareness of breast cancer and promote early diagnosis and advance research into secondary breast cancer without your help. Please consider partnering with us or making a donation.
